Modern organizing

Personally, I used to be a terribly organized student in university. I am sure some can relate to have your backpack filled with lose papers because “you would get to organizing it at a later date”.

You need to be organized to survive situations where your job has a heavier schedule with meetings and deadlines or if you are taking a full course load. Being organized will help with reducing your stress levels and if you are less stressed, you will perform better on big projects at work or big exams in high school/university/college.

Here are five areas that we will focus on that can be utilized to be more organized today:

  1. Your calendar

What is on your plate this week? How about the next weeks to come?

2. Your to-do list

What are the heavier projects that will need more of your focus? How will you prioritize your list? Doing so effectively will help you remember where to focus your brain power so you do not burn yourself out

3. Your work/school notes

As much of a chore as it is to you now, this is crucial for long term retention as you are revisiting info that may still be in your short term memory. We want to make sure this info, if important, moves your permanent memory to be ahead of the game

4. Your class materials / work files

These hopefully will be organized already for you so make sure to keep them in great condition and accessible at all times for reference. Think of these materials are your foundation, do not lose them or else you lose your base and all your work will become disorganized.

5. Your back pack / work bag

I would say this is actually where it starts and ends since having an organized system will make the following days easier when it comes to having your materials ready to be accessed no matter where you are.
